There are many ways to partner with KITH.
It is through the heart-felt work and generosity of our community that we are able to attain our goals.
Donate:
From the beginning KITH has been a faith based, grassroots program depending on the belief, compassion, and generosity of the community. For general operations KITH has never depended upon more than 10% of its funds being provided by government. The largest single category of supporters has always been individuals.

Volunteer:
There are many ways to partner with KITH. Volunteers are the backbone of KITH and are our vital resource. If you are interested in volunteering some of your time and energy toward the mission of KITH, there are many different opportunities available for you. You can partner with KITH occasionally or on a regular basis, based on your availability. Volunteers are the backbone of KITH!
Partner with KITH! KITH and Our Volunteers: Working Together to Create a Healthy Community

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

"Handy-persons":
Team of volunteers doing "handi-person" work, repairs, yard work, maintenance at housing sites. E.g. Painting or cleaning apartments before a new resident moves in.

Trade Persons:
Installers of carpet, counter tope, roofs, plumbers, electricians, landscapers, engineers, builders, contractors, etc. for special repairs and projects. Volunteer to assist with repairs or to assist with resources and supplies.

Equipment repair/maintenance:
Lawn mowers, vacuums, appliances, lamps, etc.

Relocation of families:
Strong backs are needed in the occasional physical moving of boxes and furniture for families in the program. There is usually 1-2 weeks advance notice. Most often the distance is not far. It is helpful but not necessary to have a truck.

Program Support:
Office assistance with mailings, occasional provision of transportation, childcare, etc.

Fund Raisers:
As sit in the planning and orchestration of fundraiser. Work a shift at the fundraiser. Create your own fundraiser.

Holiday "Adopt-A-Family" Program:
Assist with wrapping and organizing gifts and food. Assist with Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.

Christmas Cakes Fundraising Event:
Prepare cake forms, set up supplies, help children make a delicious Christmas treat while benefiting KITH!

7 Hills of Kirkland Cycling Event:
Help with registration and rest stops the day of the event. The event occurs each Memorial Day.

In-Kind Educational Programs:

Share your professional skills through offering workshops or training for program participants. E.g. budgeting, nutrition, parenting skills, etc.

Donations:

  1. Donate emergency meals, food, personal care items, cleaning supplies, furniture, school supplies, professional haircuts, etc.
  2. Organize a collection driver at work, school, church, etc.
Community Supper:
Would your congregation, community organization, or neighborhood group like to plan, prepare and serve a meal on a Tuesday evening at 6 PM? This could easily be a once a year activity.

Tutoring:
Volunteer to tutor a child, adult returning to school, or ESL learner. Usually once a week from 5-6 PM on Tuesday.

Activities
Offer tickets to events in the area for children, adults, or families. Provide a creative activity for the children or families before Community Supper on Tuesdays.

Recruitment of volunteers:

  1. Volunteer coordinator position, offer to do community presentations, coordinate volunteers, or organize more opportunities for volunteers, including youth/high school students.
  2. Volunteer as a co-coordinator. Respond to offers of in-kind donations, arrange for volunteers to pick up and deliver donated items, inventory/track in-kind donations, provide receipt and thank you notes for donated items, and keep records of donors and donations.
