ABOUT OUR BOARD & STAFF
These are special individuals, each bringing to KITH a desire to stabilize our community, a need to help people grow toward their goals and a strong work ethic backed by faith and perseverance.
Our Board:


Christopher Fox is the KITH! Board President. He and his wife Nancy have been residents of Kirkland since 1977. They have two children. Chris works as an attorney and publisher. Chris annually coordinates the 7 Hills of Kirkland Bike Event to benefit KITH.

Joie Goodwin relocated to the Seattle/Kirkland area in 1969 from Iowa. Her career consisted of 15 years of retail management and 15 years of teaching. She enjoys being a mother and serving the community of Kirkland with the Woman's Club, Parking Advisory Board, and Market Neighborhood Association. She retired 5 years ago and is enjoying being involved in her community.

Mary Lue Gutow and her husband, Gary moved their family of four to Kirkland in 1979 and have been small business owners since the mid 1980s. Because the well -being of our community is high on her priority list, Mary Lue joined KITH in 1997. Being a KITH volunteer provides the opportunity to be a part of a positive influence in the community and to meet a lot of very special people. Her idea of a relaxing time is gardening with the Mariners game on the radio headset.

Dick Klug is a retired executive with over 30 years experience in all areas of financial management. He and his wife reside in Kirkland, and have three grown children. Dick serves as the KITH Board Treasurer.

Walt Krueger, a graduate of Gonzaga University, is a Kirkland attorney practicing in estate planning, trusts, and probate. His wife, Kathleen, is Director of Counseling at Seattle Prep. Their two children just graduated from college. Walt has served in many different capacities on the KITH Board during his 10 years of service.

Bill Petter is a retired car dealer who has been working in Kirkland for over 40 years. He has been a bank director, as well as President of the Chamber of Commerce twice. Bill strongly supports the Downtown Kirkland Kiwanis Club, as well as its regional and national affiliations. He is Grandfather, now, for six grandkids. And, he believes deeply in KITH's mission.

Randy Schmidt serves as the KITH Board Vice-President. Randy is a Financial Advisor Representative with Securities America Advisors Inc. Specializing in 401(k) retirement plans and individual retirement planning. He and his wife, Judy, have three children, two sons, Troy and Tim & one daughter Kelly. They also have seven grandchildren. The Schmidts have lived in the Kirkland area for 35 years. He enjoys wine tasting, camping, mountain bike riding, wind surfing, snowboarding, and water skiing.

Susan Sumeri serves as the KITH Board Secretary. Susan is enjoying her retirement from careers in education (42 years) and business. She and her husband, Alex, have owned a home in the Kirkland area since 1967. They have one son, Eric. Susan helps KITH with grant writing. Her recreational activities include bicycling, traveling, hiking, and reading.

Gretchen Topping
Community Resource Development

Gretchen has worked in social services for 8 years and has been with KITH since 2001. She graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Educational Ministry. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Social Work at Eastern Washington University. Outside of work, Gretchen enjoys spending time with her husband Allen and their three young children. She enjoys mountain biking, traveling, and spending time with close friends.

Sandy Larsten
Case Manager
Sandy brings to KITH many years experience as a counselor and case manager. She has worked with families in a variety of settings, including hospice, inpatient psychiatric facilities, and family homeless shelters.

Monica Lamb
Case Manager

Monica has being working as a case manager for over six years. She has worked with a variety of clients, youth and substance abuse, low income elderly, and low-income families. Monica is currently working towards a Masters degree at Northwest University in Counseling Psychology. She is passionate about serving others and believes this degree will open many more doors to serve. Monica enjoys spending time with her husband Robert and loves outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and skiing. She also enjoys reading and attending church.

Regina Chae
Case Manager- Housing at the Crossroads

Regina was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up working in the homeless program her mother directed. Regina has been working with homeless populations for 20 years. She comes to KITH with case management experience from the Asian Counseling Referral Service and Downtown Emeregency Service Center. She has three children and lives on the Eastside.

Heather Hedin
Case Manager/Intake Specialist

Heather Hedin joined our team of case manager in December 2007. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a B.S. in Psychology. Currently she is working on her Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Northwest University. Outside of classes and KITH she enjoys watching movies and traveling.
