KITH's mission is to assist individuals and families on the Eastside who are caught in a homelessness crisis. Whether people are living in their cars, are housed temporarily in shelters, or are facing eviction, KITH will work with them to stabilize their situation. KITH is able to make referrals, provide homelessness prevention resources, provide transitional housing and ultimately provide or assist in securing permanent low-income housing.
KITH makes use of market rate apartments, co-signing or subsidizing rents. KITH also owns 16 units of permanent low-income housing and 4 units of transitional housing.
At the heart of KITH's program, in addition to the provision of a roof over head, is case management. Case managers work with participants to establish goals, which will eliminate the homelessness crisis and assist in the return to self-determination.
KITH also partners with a wide range of community programs and agencies to provide program participants with a full inventory of help.
KITH has provided over 550,000 bednights of safe housing. 50% of the families and individuals we partner with are in transitional and resettlement housing and the other 50% are in permanent low-income housing. KITH also works with an additional 100-150 families each month providing limited case management assistance.
Approximately 110 families per month qualify for direct housing assistance but are turned away because of lack of resources. The average cost of a bednight (one person housed for one night) is $15.00.
KITH's vision is?
- To continue to meet housing needs of low-income families in our midst
- To provide the first full year of transitional housing in cooperation with Sound Families and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
- To increase volunteer support in a wide range of areas
- To invite community support for upgrading all of KITH!'s properties
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit KITH does not endorse candidates for office or take positions on ballot initiatives.

“KITH puts a roof over the head of homeless people. The security of “home” means people have energy to address the other issues of their lives. KITH provides critical guidance to help people move toward a brighter future.
KITH continually raises awareness about homelessness and reminds the churches of our community that we cannot just care about ourselves. When people are in need, we all hurt. When we give our dollars and our energy to KITH, we know that our efforts will make a difference.”

“I have watched KITH grow over the past 18 years from an idea, to a vision, to reality. The organization continues to have a tremendous impact on the lives of countless families and individuals on the eastside, including members of my extended family. I am grateful and proud to have KITH as part of my community.”

"KITH exemplifies the best of how our community joins together to address the problem of homelessness. Their focus is not on enabling or facilitating homelessness as a lifestyle choice, but on helping people to marshal their resources to escape homelessness. KITH makes a real difference in our neighbors lives every day, and deserves our full and generous support."
